What is your personal favorite color combination?
Red, Pink, Black and White
Do you have a “lucky” local establishment where you always find the perfect piece?
Our store carries over 75 different vendors so we can usually find something great for our clients right from the store!
Do you have a signature technique or piece that one would recognize in your work?
My signature piece is our custom glider. It has down cushions and can be made to fit any dimensions that the room requires. The glider provides comfort, practicality in design and durability, and most importantly it looks chic. We also love including our custom painted letters. The letters usually are custom painted in various designs of polka dots, stripes, and diamonds that match the colors in the child’s bedding.
Going Green is all the rage — how do you incorporate environmentally friendly practices into your work?
Recently, we started selling organic mattresses and organic crib bedding for our clients. This is a safer and healthier option for clients who are concerned about the potential harm from chemicals in regular mattresses and bedding. We have received an overwhelmingly positive response with us recommending these options.
Describe your dream job? Dream client?
I love it when a client will go with an idea that is outside the box. Whether it’s a bold wall treatment, or not the typical pastel nursery colors, its fun for me to create unique one-of a kind rooms that are tailored around my client’s personality. The dream client? One who trusts and listens to my ideas and loves the outcome!
When it is time to relax, what is your favorite room in your home?
I love to read my little boy books in his glider, in his nursery. It so relaxing at his bedtime to sit and have no distractions…Just to be together. It’s my favorite time of day!
What is your opinion of TV shows like Bravo’s Top Design?
I love this show! It is so fun to see these designers come up with such unique concepts with little to no planning time. It definitely is inspiring.
Can you give us a trend prediction for 2009?
Clients are moving into two very different directions when selecting their nursery. They are asking for a modern, clean look with bold artwork or a vintage chic look using older pieces recovered in bold damask prints and distressed woods.
