The glycemic index is a numerical index given to a carbohydrate-rich food. It’s based on the average increase in blood glucose levels that occurs after the food is eaten. In other words, foods with a high GI can make you fatter faster than foods with a lower rating. Here are some of the worst culprits:
White Bread = 71
Golden Grahams = 71
Corn Chips = 74
Pretzels = 81
Rice Krispies = 82
Pasta = 92
Potatoes = 82
